I use audacity WAY too much, but I can t help it. It s just too darned good.
Although it s not perfect compared to CoolEdit Adobe Audition, it s still a good choice to edit audio files. 虽然不如 CoolEdit 完美 但仍然不失为一款很好的音频编辑工具
What can I say that hasn t already been said. This really is the best open-source option for audio editing. It brings strong competition to all of the comparable proprietary systems out there.

Having used quite a few digital audio editors over the years, I really like the way Audacity nails the basics. It s got a clean, simple interface that gets out of my way, the effects with Nyquist and VST extensibility are great, and the keyboard commands are powerful. Thanks.

And, the MP3 conversion even comes out at a consistent 320 kbpsnot like other encoders where the resulting kbps varies between 310 kbps and 320 kbps I personally hate that..
The only thing about bulk MP3 conversion is that it was a bit tricky to findhad to search for that information online.
For those that are about to download the program here s the trick:
File Import Audio to import multiple tracks in one Audacity window
File Export Multiple
Click on options in the top to select kbps rate
ORif converting only a single track, then
File Import Audio
File Export
Click on Options underneath Cancel to select kbps rates
Of course, you will need to download the lame encoder first instructions included in program

I have used Audacity for about six years now. I think that is an extremely useful program, especially since it can use vst s now. I use it mostly for editing wav or aiff files. I would, and have recommend this to just about anybody.
Great, and amazing program, easy, and simple to use. GUI may need work, but almost everything has hotkeys, and does almost all of your audio editing needs. There s even plugins available for auto tuning your voice both for windows, and linux don t have a mac sorry No doubt the best free alternative to soundbooth. I d recommend this program anyday.

This is one of the greatest pieces of software I ve ever come across. I use it for backing up vinyl as well as making multi-track recordings. I ve always had great results. It has all the editing power I ve ever needed and the effects work well. It s also a very clean program. It never hangs and it never causes the computer to have any problems. I can t say enough good things about it.

I used this program to convert old cassette tapes to MP3. It has built-in filters for removing the hiss from tapes and the pops from records. It is very easy to use and I highly recommend it over it s 300 competitors.
It s a bit tricky to get started but I ve paid for a lot of audio editors and I can t see any reason at all to do that.
Audacity is a great freeware audio editor, emphasis on freeware. Supports many/most audio formats with ffmpeg plugin. Thumbs up.

great software, intuitive and easy to use and I have used several. Id love to see shortcut keys for the effects like fade in, fade out, normalize etc. and scripting so users could trim the dead space off of all files in a folder for example.
I use this all the time and check for releases regularly. Thanks.

It s great, although it should also install the codec with it.
It should better the lag when playing and recording, I remember an old cakewalk pro audio did it great, but then new software can t record and play without lag anyway a good project.
I love Audacity. I have used it for more than 2 years already and can t imagine not having it on my computer.
Works well - use it regularly to edit tracks and to transfer from vinyls. Simple and easy to use.

I ve heard many recommendations of this software but for me it simply crashes. Looks like an unstable alpha version.
Easy to use and generally excellent.
It s the only recorder I ll ever use. I ve tried trial versions of other software, but Audacity has always come up tops.
We have used Audacity in both Linux and Windows for many years to edit and clean up speech and music files. Versions 1.2.x do a superb job of removing noise. Unfortunately the noise removal algorithms have changed in versions 1.3.x and we have not succeeded to get it to work as well as it used to. We have also experienced problems with the program refusing to save changes, so we dropped back to 1.2.4. Grab it while you can.
I like this project very much and I learnt FFT algorithm from this project. Thanks to this useful project.
